Who are we?
Founded in 2008, The University of Sheffield Peer Teaching Society comprises a group of medical students interested in developing their teaching skills and of those around them. Teaching is outlined by the GMC in Tomorrow's Doctors as a necessary skill for the F1, but opportunity to refine this art can be difficult to come by in medical school. We aim to change that by coordinating a diverse array of peer-to-peer learning activities through all levels.
Who better to give you those handy hints than your fellow students in the years above?
We are open to all University of Sheffield medical students.
Younger years - don't feel left out! Volunteering to be a mock patient for histories, examinations and clinical skills can be a valuable learning experience.
Check out our phases and revision sections for handy and helpful things written by you, for you!
To find out more about our team, please visit the Committee page and the Contact Us page where you will find all our social media information.
What do we do?
Peer Teaching offer a range of events throughout the academic year to support you through your time at medical school. There will be end-of-module and anatomy wrap up sessions to help you revise and test yourself on the material and give you the opportunity to speak to students in senior years if you have any questions.
For first years, we also allocating mentors for you when you start your first clinical placement, the Multi-Professional Experience (MPE), in January to ensure that you have someone at hand for guidance.
Near exam time, we will be running revision and exam-style formatives and a mock spotter, which will ensure you’re well prepared for those first-year exams!
We look forward to meeting you all at the Freshers fair!
